NLRB Rules Against Danbury Nursing Home

The board ruled the nursing home management was not bargaining in good faith.

The labor battle at a group of nursing homes, including Danbury Health Care Center in Danbury, escalated this week when the National Labor Relations Board accused the management company of failing to bargain in good faith.

An article in the Connecticut Post said the complaint was against New Jersey-based HealthBridge Management, which locked out employees at the West River Health Care Center in Milford last December and threatened similar lockouts at nursing homes in Danbury, Stamford and Westport.

An official from the New England Health Care Employees Union, District 1199 said the ruling vindicated the union’s position in the dispute, but a HealthBridge spokesman said the company was disappointed by it.
