Striking machinists, Honeywell resume negotiations
Source: The Kansas City Star
By: MARK DAVIS

Negotiations between striking machinists and Honeywell resumed Wednesday as the company began to hire temporary replacements for the 840 workers who walked out Oct. 9.

The workers’ contract expired early last month, and the union members voted to strike after rejecting the company’s new offer.

Honeywell said it began this week to hire temporary replacements for the members of Local Lodge 778 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

It is bringing in 130 temporary workers for maintenance and custodial work through an existing contractor.

On Wednesday, the company posted jobs for 500 temporary production workers.
